Premier considering additional taxes on Tasmanians

Tasmanian Labor

In the middle of a cost of living crisis Premier Jeremy Rockliff is actively considering imposing additional taxes on Tasmanians.

Today in Question Time Premier Rockliff refused to rule out expanding land tax to the family home in an attempt to fix his budget black hole. He belatedly stated he currently has "no plans" to do so via press release, but questions remain given his statements in Parliament.

The Premier has stopped talking up the economy and instead is talking about "broadening the tax base" to find more money to service debt growing at the rate of $3.5 million every single day.

Because of his government's broken promises and failure to get the basics right, power prices are going up 12 per cent, water and sewerage bills are going up $450 and the new Liberal bin tax means council rates are going up too.

The new Premier can't manage the budget, and to fix his mess he's developing secret plans to slug Tasmanians with extra tax in the middle of a cost of living crisis.
