Atlantic Canada's main streets, downtowns and neighbourhoods are vibrant spaces where people gather to enjoy all that our urban and rural communities have to offer. The Government of Canada is supporting projects that will strengthen these lively and important community hubs.

Today, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Member of Parliament for Cardigan, announced total investments of over $216,000 for Active Communities Inc., for three projects in Eastern P.E.I. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.

These investments will enable the organization to support various community revitalization projects including: renovating the Montague Rural Action Centre; helping Three Rivers create vibrant downtown areas through festivals and events; and delivering training and advisory services for local businesses.

For more details about the individual projects, please see the backgrounder.

Today's announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to help community organizations stimulate local economies and improve the quality of life for Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
