Progress of development plans for Dreijen in Wageningen

Phase 2 of the construction plans on the Dreijen is currently underway. The Dreijen is a territory in Wageningen owned by Wageningen University. There is an intention to sell the land to project developer Blokland. In order to realize, among other things, 550 homes on the grounds of the Chemistry Building and Agrotechnion.

Part of the territory will still be used by Wageningen University now and in the coming years. In addition, Wageningen University would like parts of current buildings to be preserved so that a piece of university history remains visible. That is why it is important that a project developer can move flexibly and meet the social and sustainable requirements of the university. Because Wageningen University has a long history on that piece of land and wants to 'leave it behind' as best as possible for Wageningen.

In the process so far, Wageningen University, the municipality of Wageningen and Blokland have worked closely together to develop initial visions and development plans. Wageningen University sees Blokland as the only serious candidate to sell the land in the sense of the so-called Didam judgment.
