Property Council NSW Executive Director Katie Stevenson said the focus on faster decision making, cutting red tape, and pushing housing projects forward was critical to addressing the housing crisis.
"Today's announcement is about getting the government out of its own way, and it's welcome news for the property industry," Ms Stevenson said.
"Lengthy business case processes are time consuming, cumbersome, and often happen without adequate industry input. There is certainly a case for appropriate checks and balances, but this shouldn't come at the cost of delivering critical infrastructure projects.
"This is the bold, decisive leadership we need to focus government resources on tackling the state's most pressing priority - delivering more housing.
"Getting early and straightforward government approval before diving into detailed procurement and technical investigations will save time and bring much-needed certainty," she said.
Ms Stevenson said it was critical for the NSW Government to bring industry to the table as early as possible to inform decisions.
"Early industry involvement ensures the right infrastructure, like roads in Western Sydney, is prioritised to support jobs and housing in the region.
"Industry insights make sure the project settings are right in terms of affordability and that there's enough capacity built in to enable future expansion and upgrades to meet demand.
"We'll work closely with Treasury and other agencies to make sure the strong and positive intent of this fresh approach is front of mind and delivers real results," Ms Stevenson said.
