- Works commenced on Byford Bike Pump Track project
- Track will cater for both intermediate and advanced riders
- Project funded by WA Labor Government
Works are underway on the construction of a new bike pump track in Byford which promises to be a vibrant recreational hub for the local community.
The project will include the main pump track, jump lines, shade shelters and seating, and once complete will meet growing demand for the recreational activity in the area.
The WA Labor Government has funded the $1.34 million project.
Local contractor Common Ground Trails Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to undertake the works, which are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
"A pump track in Byford has been strongly supported by residents seeking different recreation opportunities close by, so we're really excited to be supporting this project.
"The pump track will be popular with young families and children of all ages, and I look forward to seeing the completed works later this year."
As stated by Darling Range MLA Hugh Jones:
"Once complete, this pump track will help make Byford an even more attractive place to visit for outdoor enthusiasts and will also cater for the growing demand from locals to participate in these types of activities.
"Importantly, the facility will provide a safe and supportive avenue to get young people outdoors and active while also helping to create a new social hub for the broader community."
