The Crisafulli Government is cutting red tape and accelerating approvals to create jobs, with a new cross-government model to get investment moving and deliver certainty for Queensland's resources sector.

The new Cross-Agency Assessment Team is another way the Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, by bringing together specialist expertise from key State Government agencies to resolve regulatory barriers early in the approvals process.

Led by the Coordinator-General, the team will draw on specialist regulatory skills to guide projects through environmental and other approvals efficiently and effectively.

Local councils will be engaged from the start to ensure regional communities are heard from the outset and local issues are identified and addressed sooner.

The first projects to benefit from the new model include:

  • Eva Copper Mine
  • Centurion North Development
  • Graphinex's Esmeralda Graphite Project

These projects have the potential to drive investment, create jobs, boost sovereign capabilities and strengthen regional economies.

After a decade of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and certainty for the State's resources sector.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the Cross-Agency Assessment Team was a clear example of the Crisafulli Government's commitment to unlocking new resource opportunities after a decade of decline under Labor.

"Under Labor, Queensland's resources sector lacked certainty and projects that had huge potential to supercharge jobs and the economy simply weren't progressing," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.

"Under the Crisafulli Government, the resources sector can finally have confidence that projects that support jobs and accelerate economic growth will be assessed quickly and robustly.

"The Cross-Agency Assessment Team will allow us to address challenges early and provide certainty for proponents, support investment certainty, drive job creation and reinforce Queensland's position as a competitive, globally focused resource state."

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dale Last said the Crisafulli Government was backing the resources sector and delivering certainty for regional Queensland.

"During Labor's decade of decline, projects that would create hundreds of jobs in regional Queensland sat in limbo while activists called the shots," Minister Last said.

"Unlike Labor, the Crisafulli Government backs our resources sector and the hardworking Queenslanders who rely on it. Our message is simple. Queensland is open for business.

"Queensland is well placed to tap into the strong global demand for our resources, including coal and critical minerals, but to meet that demand, we need a regulatory framework that supports investment.

"This initiative positions Queensland for the future by stimulating long-term investment and ensuring our regions thrive."

Coordinator-General Gerard Coggan said the new team emphasised the importance of collaboration in managing the complexities of large-scale projects.

"Resource projects are significant undertakings that in some instances require precise coordination across multiple agencies, as well as engagement with stakeholders at all levels," Mr Cogan said.

"The Cross-Agency Assessment Team will enable a more unified approach to addressing issues early, ensuring that projects meet social, environmental, and economic requirements while reducing delays in decision-making."
