A new Clinical Training Centre that will boost health education in western Queensland has opened in Chinchilla, thanks to a $502,000 contribution from the state's resources sector through the Resources Community Infrastructure Fund (RCIF).
Queensland Resources Council (QRC) Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane said he was honoured to represent the sector at the official opening today.
"The funding provided by the Queensland resources sector has played a crucial in the ensuring the completion of this new $718,000 facility," Mr Macfarlane said.
"It continues our industry's long and proud history of supporting regional communities and organisations across the state providing a range of services, including health.
"The money being made available for the Chinchilla Clinical Training Centre is part of our sector's $70 million contribution to the $100 million fund established by resources companies and the Queensland Government.
"The new centre will make a real and practical difference to the provision of health training in the region and ultimately help boost the area's healthcare workforce," Mr Macfarlane said.
The Chinchilla facility is one of 20 projects in 15 communities that will be delivered through the first round of the RCIF.
"We are always looking to ensure jobs for Queenslanders in the regions, and many of these projects do just that and more for our communities." Mt Macfarlane said.
