The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Queensland with the 2026-27 Budget set to include a record investment into new social and community housing, to deliver a home for more Queenslanders.

A $5.7 billion investment will help deliver the 6,500 new social and community homes currently underway, as part of a commitment for 53,500 social and community homes by 2044, including youth foyers, domestic violence shelters and social homes in remote and discrete First Nations communities.

The investment follows a decade of decline under the former Labor Government, which failed to plan for Queensland's growing population and added just 509 social homes on average per year.

The former Government's failure to deliver new housing led to Labor's Housing Crisis, locking Queenslanders out of a home and leaving many struggling to keep a roof over their head.

The pipeline of social and community housing will add to the 98,000 homes unlocked by the Residential Activation Fund which the Government is doubling to $1 billion in the 2026-27 Budget, as well as continuing to deliver Boost to Buy and First Home Owner Grants.

Treasurer and Minister for Home Ownership David Janetzki said the 2026-27 Budget was designed to ease the Housing Crisis and deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders.

"We are delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, with the social and community homes needed now and in the future," Treasurer Janetzki said.

"In this Budget are delivering the homes the former Government failed to for a decade, with a record investment to deliver the record homes underway."

Minister for Housing and Public Works, Sam O'Connor, said the Crisafulli Government was proud to be delivering continued record investment into building new social and community housing.

"We're delivering all types of housing supply because every Queenslander deserves a safe and secure place to call home," Minister O'Connor said.

"Our record investment continues the strong momentum we have created to boost social and community housing across the State and turn around the Housing Crisis we inherited.

"After the former Labor Government delivered an average of just 509 social homes per year, we now have work underway on a record 6,500 social and affordable homes across Queensland.

"The additional housing construction funding of $1.024 billion in this year's Budget is on top of the $1.967 billion that we committed in our first budget, along with $500 million in permanent ongoing baseline funding from 2029-30 which brings our four-year capital program to a record $5.725 billion.

"This, combined with our support for specialist homelessness services and crisis support, means more vulnerable Queenslanders will have the housing help they need, sooner."
