The Crisafulli Government is delivering for regional Queensland, with Minister for Regional and Rural Development Dale Last taking key decision makers on the road to meet with the local community in Bundaberg today.
The Bundaberg Forum is the fourth Regional Forum hosted by Minister Last as part of the Crisafulli Government's ongoing engagement with regional communities to ensure local voices shape future policy and investment decisions.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, after a decade of decline under Labor.
The forums provide an opportunity for residents, community leaders, business operators and industry to raise issues, discuss local priorities and identify opportunities for regional growth and development.
Minister for Regional and Rural Development Dale Last said it was essential for regional Queenslanders to have a seat at the table.
"The Crisafulli Government knows that Queensland does not start and end in Brisbane," Minister Last said.
"Regional Queensland is the engine room of our State and it's critical that communities like Bundaberg have a strong voice in shaping their future.
"Unlike the former Labor Government, we understand the value of regional Queensland and I'm proud to take my team and colleagues to regional communities to hear firsthand the challenges and opportunities ahead of us."
Minister Last will be joined in Bundaberg by Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett, the Coordinator-General and the Special Commissioner for Regional and Rural Queensland, as well as senior departmental representatives.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said the event was an opportunity for the community to engage directly with the State Government.
"Bundaberg has always been a community that steps up and has its say, so it's great to see locals given the opportunity to speak directly with decision-makers about what matters most to our region," Mayor Blackburn said.
"We're proud of what Bundaberg brings to the table, whether it's our strong agricultural base, our growing industries or the resilience our community continues to show.
"Opportunities like this are important because real progress happens when all levels of government listen and work alongside local communities to deliver the outcomes we need.
"As our region continues to grow it's critical we plan carefully for the future - making sure we're supporting jobs, strengthening infrastructure and building a community that remains a great place to live, work and raise a family."
The next Regional Forum is scheduled to be held later in the year.
