Quotes called for compliance contractor on Magnetic Island

Following feedback from the community, Townsville City Council has issued a call for quotes from suitably qualified and experienced contractors to enhance regulatory compliance services on Magnetic Island.

Mayor Jenny Hill said the need to enhance compliance services on Magnetic Island was a common theme during the recent public consultation on changes to Council's animal management laws.

"The consultation on the proposed changes to the animal management laws elicited considerable feedback from the community and it will take council officers some time to review it all," Cr Hill said.

"However, a common theme which emerged in the early stages of the consultation was the need to encourage greater compliance with state and local laws on the island.

"Compliance on the Island is currently managed by officers, however Council is looking to enhance this service and has decided to go to market for a dedicated contractor.

"I know the Magnetic Island community will welcome the finalisation of this Request For Quote process."

The position will be on a part-time arrangement, contracted for 24 hours a week.

The successful supplier would be responsible for undertaking investigations, inspections and approvals relative to state and local laws including, but not limited to public health, regulated parking, safety, environmental health, water restrictions, abandoned vehicles, overgrown allotments, commercial permits, and animal management.
