NSW Police are urging racegoers to plan ahead and travel safely as they make their way to Bathurst's iconic Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit this weekend.
A high-visibility policing operation is underway throughout the weekend as over 200,000 race enthusiasts are expected to make their way to the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000.
Operation Bathurst 2025 commenced on Thursday (9 October 2025) and will continue until Sunday (12 October 2025), with significant police presence on all roads leading to Bathurst.
General duties, Traffic and Highway Patrol officers will be targeting speeding, drink and drug driving, mobile phone use and seat-belt offences in and around the event.
Western Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland APM, said road safety is everyone's responsibility to make sure they arrive and get home from the event safely.
"All racegoers are encouraged to plan ahead, know how they are getting home, and avoid putting themselves and other road users at risk,"
"Leave the racing to the professionals – there will be no tolerance for dangerous or irresponsible behavior by drivers," Assistant Commissioner Holland said.
"Random drug and alcohol testing will be in place in and around Bathurst, and racegoers are urged to take precautions to make sure they arrive and get home from the event safely."
"It is also the end of the school holidays and motorist need to use extra caution on Western roads this weekend, as there will be a significant increase of vehicles, especially on the road to Bathurst."
"We know poor driver behavior and fatigue contribute significantly to fatal and injury crashes, so motorists need to drive to the conditions at all times - show patience and courtesy to other road users," Assistant Commissioner Holland said."
The operation will also be targeting anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related violence throughout the duration of the event.
