Police are re-appealing for public assistance to locate a woman missing from Kings Cross.

Akira Khanthavarakul, aged 36, was last seen in Kings Cross in December 2021.

When family was unable to contact her, she was reported missing to police on Saturday 21 May 2022, and officers from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Police and family hold serious concerns for Akira as this is considered out of character.

Akira is a Thai national and is described as being about 150cm tall, of thin build, with long black hair, and brown eyes. It is not known what she was wearing at the time.

Sydney City Police Area Command's Crime Manager, Inspector David El-Badawi said there is no crime in being missing and is asking for Akira to come forward.

"I can't emphasis enough that Akira is not in any type of trouble. She has done nothing wrong," said Inspector El-Badawi.

"Her family and police are worried for her safety. It would mean a lot to her family if she could just pick up her phone and give them a call."

Anyone with information about Akira's whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
