The next Open Studios event is set to be bigger and better than ever with more than 50 artists taking part.
A total of emerging and award-winning 55 artists will open their studios to the community across 33 sites stretching from Mannering Park to Cardiff this Saturday and Sunday, November 5-6.
Artist Michelle Schmitzer said she was eager to open her mosaic and pottery focused studio at Gateshead for the event, for a fourth time.
"Art is just my life – mosaics, pottery, fused glass, light weight sculptures – I just can't get enough it, it's me, it's who I am," she said.
My main focus for doing it is so people can see how a studio works, and if they want to create their own studio at home or a small space, then they can get some ideas on that as well."
Lake Mac born-and-bred artist Alina Jane has participated in the biannual event since its inception in 2019.
"I love it because I get to meet the community, and people get to see my art under no obligation, so they can come and chat, browse, buy and get inspired," she said.
"My passion is to paint water, whether it's still, moving, the beach, the lake. I come from a surfing family – I have done a lot of surfing around here and overseas – so that's where I draw inspiration."
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said it was incredible to see the art sector booming across the city.
"I think it really showcases the community's desire to be involved in the art space," she said.
"And this is a chance for residents and visitors to meet those inspiring artists, learn about their creative processes and purchase unique artworks to take home."
Studios will be open throughout the weekend, with visitors free to drop into the studios anytime from 10am-4pm and in any order.
