Elise Archer,Minister for the Arts

Tasmanian artists and arts businesses will soon be able to share in $1 million as part of the Tasmanian Government's Arts Recovery Support Initiative with applications opening on 11 January 2021.

Under the new initiative artists, arts organisations and arts businesses may apply for up to $10,000 to cover earnings lost as a result of cancellations due to COVID-19.

This initiative is designed to help people sustain their arts businesses and practices to ensure that Tasmania's renowned creative industries continue to thrive and provide experiences for audiences.

We are committed to rebuilding a stronger Tasmania that includes resilient and vibrant cultural and creative industries, which is why we announced an additional $4 million in the recent Budget to support the arts.

This included the new $1 million Arts Recovery Support Initiative, which is the first of a suite of programs to be delivered as part of the $2.5 million Arts and Cultural Support Fund.

Applications for this competitive funding initiative will open on 11 January and close on 15 February 2021.
