Recycled Road Material In Coleman Parade Council First

Coleman Parade in Glen Waverley has been rebuilt using an innovative circular construction approach that recycles existing asphalt - the first project of its kind at Monash Council.

Instead of sending materials to landfill, existing asphalt was reused, combined with recycled crushed concrete from a nearby shared path, and rebuilt in place to form the new road base.

This innovative method reduces waste, cuts transport impacts and lowers the carbon emissions traditionally associated with producing new asphalt and concrete, which is one of the most carbon‑intensive parts of road construction.

Not only does this deliver a smoother road and a more sustainable outcome for the community, but it's a win for the community, a win for the environment and a proud milestone for Monash.

It also demonstrates how infrastructure projects can embrace circular economy principles — keeping valuable materials in use for longer and reducing the need for carbon‑intensive new products.
