- Local construction capacity boosted through Regional Economic Development Grants funding
- $250,000 investment supports prefabrication facility in Esperance
- Cook Government developing a skilled and productive workforce
Drake-Brockman Building & Construction, a local, family-owned and run Esperance business will have enhanced productivity and have increased capacity thanks to the Cook Government's Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program.
A $250,000 grant from the program has enabled the expansion of the company's existing workshop, delivering a new facility that supports the prefabrication and assembly of house wall frames.
Demand for residential and commercial construction in Esperance remains strong, and this new facility will streamline workflows and improve the fabrication and assembly processes, supporting a more continuous and efficient construction pipeline.
Since 2018, the RED Grants program has supported 415 projects aimed at stimulating economic growth and development across regional Western Australia.
Applications for Round 8 have closed and are currently being assessed.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
"The Cook Government's RED Grants program is delivering for regional WA businesses, and this investment is a great example of this funding in action.
"The project not only boosts local employment and training but also ensures that regional housing and construction projects have access to a highly skilled and capable workforce.
"And that's what RED Grants are about, make a real difference for not just businesses but the communities they service."
As stated by Acting Goldfields-Esperance Minister Don Punch:
"The Cook Government's RED Grants program is delivering targeted support across the Esperance region, backing local businesses to grow and create new job opportunities.
"This initiative is paving the way for a stronger, more resilient community by investing in projects that address the needs of residents and the wider region."
