Redfern Region Enforcement Squad investigators have charged a man after seizing a pistol, more than $100,000 cash, and prohibited drugs at a unit in Sydney's Inner West.
Just before 9.30am yesterday (Tuesday 27 October 2020), Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) investigators, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) search at a unit at Breakfast Point.
During the search of the premises, officers located a prohibited pistol, firearm parts, ammunition and a ballistic armoured vest.
Officers also located $103,140 cash, nearly 300g of MDMA, 22g of cocaine and a large quantity of an unidentified liquid.
All items were seized and will undergo further examination.
The combined estimated potential street value of the prohibited drugs seized during the operation is more than $50,000.
A 45-year-old man was located in the bathroom of the unit and arrested.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with nine offences including; supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, not keep firearm safely (prohibited firearm), possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and use, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm.
The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 28 October 2020).
Investigations by Redfern RES are continuing.
