Reducing catch of protected species in our waters

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

$2.8 million in grants will go to 7 projects that aim to stop or reduce the bycatch of protected species through the Threatened and Migratory Species Fisheries Bycatch Mitigation Program. These projects will receive funding between $50,000 and $500,000 to target a range of threatened and migratory species including seabirds, cetaceans, sawfish, turtles, sea snakes and sharks. This important work is part of the $100 million Ocean Leadership Package that aims to build upon Australia's role as a global leader in ocean and marine management.
