Reminder to update and backup your details in PRODA

Australian Medical Association

PRODA is an online identity verification and authentication system which will keep your organisation's data secure and accessible as the federal government transitions Medicare Online systems

Access to Medicare Online (including Department of Veterans' Affairs and the Australian Immunisation Register) using ageing patient administration software will soon be removed.

Healthcare locations that use ageing patient administration software to submit claims or data using Medicare Online will have their access gradually removed over a six-to-eight-6–8-week period starting from 4 October 2022.

Sites which haven't transitioned in time will need to contact their software developer or use alternative claiming channels. This may cause disruption, additional administration pressure and costs to their business.

To reduce the impact of change or any interruptions, it is important that organisations keep their contact details up to date in PRODA. Healthcare organisations can regularly review and update their contact details via the PRODA website (https://proda.humanservices.gov.au), or by calling 1800 700 199.

This should include ensuring the identity and contact details of the organisation's Responsible Officer (RO) and Organisation Maintenance Officer (OMO) are up to date.
