Research growth sees Flinders rise in ARWU ranking

Continued strong growth in research performance has seen Flinders University climb 42 places to move into the 301-400 group of the world's leading universities in the prestigious ARWU Shanghai Ranking for 2023.

In a performance which bucks much of the trend across Australian universities, calculations show Flinders has risen from 410 last year to 368 this year.

Vice Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling.

Vice Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling says it reaffirms Flinders' position in the top 2 per cent of universities globally, as it tracks a path to the world top 1 per cent.

"Flinders stands apart from most universities for its dual strengths in research and education. We have grown our research income by 140 per cent in the past five years, an acknowledgement of the impact of our research which addresses society's needs. At the same time, our education performance is growing with our graduates emerging with capabilities highly sought by employers.

"It's a formidable combination that speaks to Flinders University's underlying strength and increasing competitiveness."

"I congratulate our exceptional staff for their commitment to high calibre research that extended the boundaries of knowledge, and their dedication to quality learning and student experience."

"It is through their efforts that Flinders University remains a strong and distinctive institution on an impressive growth trajectory, navigating often dynamic rankings to chart its course to a top ten Australian university and amongst the best in the world.
