Residents evacuated after smoke fills building, South Australia

Police are investigating after three fires were deliberately lit inside a car park in the CBD last night.

Just after 10.30pm on Tuesday 29 December, police and fire crews were called to a Frome Street car park after reports of a fire inside the premises.

Residents in apartments situated above the car park were evacuated due to the smoke billowing throughout the building.

MFS quickly extinguished the small fires and determined the cause to be three plastic signs in the car park on three separate levels.

Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the fires and there was no structural damage caused to the building.

The fires were believed to be deliberately lit and Eastern District patrols are investigating. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
