RMIT Europe, Disseny Hub Team Up to Boost Design Research

RMIT

RMIT Europe has signed an agreement with the Disseny Hub Barcelona (Design Museum of Barcelona - DHub) as a venue partner to host selected events during RMIT's Practice Research Symposium (PRS) Europe, held twice-yearly in Barcelona.

The PRS Europe brings together researchers in practice-based research - a method of investigation into what designers and artists actually do when they conceive and develop new and innovative approaches to creative practice.

Held in May and November each year, PRS Europe features doctoral examinations, candidate presentations, keynote talks and a seminar series, creating a dynamic space for critical reflection and conversation on creative practice research.

As a cultural venue dedicated to design, the Disseny Hub Barcelona is hosting selected PRS Europe events this November, including the opening event and keynote panel discussion 'Reflecting on Design Practice Research' and three PhD examinations.

RMIT Europe Executive Director Marta Fernandez said the RMIT PRS Europe and the Disseny Hub Barcelona partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing creativity and design.

"Together we contribute to Barcelona's creative ecosystem and the broader community of practice-based research," she said.

Dr Fleur Watson, Chair of PRS Europe and Associate Professor, RMIT School of Architecture & Urban Design, says that the partnership with the Disseny Hub Barcelona is a highly valued, design focused cultural venue for selected PRS Europe activities in Barcelona.

"We are looking forward to this month's upcoming PRS event along with future editions and to working with the Disseny Hub Barcelona's team," she said.

The City Councillor for Culture and Creative Industries of Barcelona City Council Xavier Marcé said the collaboration reinforces Barcelona's positioning as a global reference in design.

"Supporting RMIT's PRS Europe at the Disseny Hub Barcelona strengthens our commitment to cultural exchange and knowledge sharing," he said.
