Tourism Council WA has welcomed today's Main Roads update that the North West Coastal Highway was now open for road trips along Highway 1 from Perth through to Broome, Karijini and the Pilbara.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said the cleanup was completed in towns like Onslow and visitors were encouraged to travel north.
Mr Hall said Mains Roads had designated some sections of the North West Coastal Highway as road open with caution, meaning drivers should take more care than usual.
"We encourage families and caravaners to head north for their school holiday and ANZAC Day long weekend road trips," Mr Hall said.
"Your road trip is a huge part of the economic recovery of cyclone-affected towns."
Mr Hall said Kalbarri, Geraldton, Carnarvon, Coral Bay, Onslow and towns further in the Kimberley were open for business and ready to welcome visitors during the school holidays, while the road from the Exmouth Gulf to Exmouth was currently closed.
"The moorings in the Ningaloo Marine Park have been cleared and re-opened for marine tour operations," Mr Hall said.
Mr Hall said the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions reported Nyinggulu Coastal Reserves and Bill's Bay were open for public use.
"Tourism Council WA expects Learmonth Airport to re-open shortly for regular passenger flights into Exmouth," Mr Hall said.
