Road upgrades at Dundee Beach

NT Government

Dundee Beach road upgrades will be commencing on Monday.

The works include widening and upgrading Dundee Place to an 8-metre wide seal for a length of approximately 310 metres. The upgrade will address pavement and drainage issues and improve the intersection of Dundee Place, Namarada Drive and Balanda Drive.

A table drain will be constructed on either side of the road to divert water away from the road and to improve drainage.

Many residents and visitors use Dundee Place to access fishing spots, accommodation and dining options. These upgrades will improve conditions for road users and businesses operating in the vicinity, providing improved ride-ability, passenger comfort and safety, and improved drainage.

Dundee Place and access to Dundee Beach caravan park and boat ramp will remain accessible throughout the works, with speed restrictions and temporary lane closures in place.

The design does require the removal of 31 trees, which will be replaced when construction is complete.

The project is part of the Roads Recovery Program to improve facilities for the road users in the Territory.

Local company Amrock Civil will deliver the works, valued at $560,000.

Quotes from the Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler:

"Dundee is an increasingly popular spot for anglers and weekenders. Improving the roads around Dundee Place will make it safer for all users.

"Some trees have to be removed during construction, but I can assure the community these will be replaced when works are completed."

Quotes from the Member for Daly, Dheran Young:

"These upgrades will mean a great deal to the community and visitors to Dundee.

"These works will improve drainage, and will mean that Dundee Place is safer and accessible year-round. This is good for local business, residents and visitors."
