Robbery with violence at Cranbrook

Police have arrested a man following investigations into two violent robberies in Cranbrook this morning.

It will be alleged, a 20-year-old man who was subject to supervision by Queensland Corrective Services removed his GPS tracking device.

Around 10.50am, the man allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old boy on Cranbrook Street before stealing his bicycle.

He then rode to Bergin Road before allegedly confronting an 83-year-old woman, grabbing her car keys on a lanyard around her neck and fleeing in her vehicle.

Around 2.20pm, police intercepted the stolen vehicle on the Bruce Highway north of Innisfail after officers deployed a tire deflation device.

The 20-year-old Stuart man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody without further incident.
