Industry leaders, geologists and explorers will gather in Ballarat later this week for the Australian Institute of Geoscientist's (AIG) Victorian Minerals Round-up, with deep discussions on discovery, data and development.
Resources Victoria is proud to be the Geoscience Partner at this year's event being held at the Goods Shed on 26-27 June.
Critical minerals will continue to be a key topic of discussion with several presentations focussing on Victoria's emerging opportunities.
Victoria has proven deposits of gold and antimony, titanium, zirconium and rare earth elements. There are also opportunities across the state for other minerals and precious metals including copper, high-purity alumina and high-purity silica.
Resources Victoria's geoscientists will present on a range of topics at the conference, including new research unveiling the geological ages of Victorian rocks, and how these can improve our understanding of how certain rocks formed and how that might relate to finding valuable minerals.
Presentations will also be delivered on a new generation gravity map for Victoria, insights into research on the age and chemistry of rocks from the Fosterville area, an overview on changes to mine regulation and Victoria's Critical Minerals Roadmap.
The event will feature presentations from a range of other organisations including Geoscience Australia, universities and some of the active mineral explorers working in Victoria.
The AIG is the leading professional institute representing geoscientists.
The event partnership will connect Resources Victoria to key players in the minerals sector and exploration teams across the state.
