The Dies universitatis of the University of Freiburg will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Prof. Dr. Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg will give this year's keynote speech at the ceremony. At approximately 11:20 a.m., the alumna, who graduated from the University of Freiburg with a degree in economics, will speak on "The Role of the University in a Deglobalizing World."
Goldberg is an economics professor at Yale University and former chief economist at the World Bank where she conducted research on income distribution and poverty reduction. Her most recent research addresses the resurgence of protectionism in the U.S., trade, poverty and inequality, and discrimination against women in developing countries.
