I Thank David Pearson, CEO Australian Alliance to end Homelessness, for the opportunity to speak today.

It is fitting that today on International Women's Day we are here in the Dame Dorothy Tangney Alcove.
Earlier today we unveiled statues of Dorothy Tangney along with Dame Enid Lyons.
Trailblazing members of our federal Parliament.
In Dorothy Tangney first speech in Parliament, she spoke of the importance of housing.
"Our present housing conditions are causing a great deal not only of discomfort but even of hardship to many members of the community."
She spoke of the need to improve both the quantity and quality of housing in Australia.
"I am thinking of homes with gardens to enable families to live in decency, instead of being brought up like rabbits."
I thank the Rotary Club for bring this exhibition to Parliament House.
It is not every day that people come here and tell us about the issues that matter to someone else.
Thank you for doing this, and for not just telling us, but for showing us.
I have seen firsthand the difference the Rotary Club can make.

The complex global challenges we are facing are affecting us all.
But we know Australians in need are feeling it the most.
It is unacceptable that so many Australians are forced to couch surf, sleep rough, or live in temporary or overcrowded housing.
We want every Australia to have the security of having a roof over their head.
Since the election, the Albanese government has hit the ground running.
We are delivering our ambitious housing reform agenda with immediate action.
We are committed to bringing national leadership and a focus on stable and affordable housing.
We have unlocked up to $575 million in funding from the National Housing Infrastructure Facility.
These funds will be invested immediately in new social and affordable homes.
We have also introduced into Parliament legislation to establish the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund.
Delivering 20,000 social housing properties for Australians in need.
