More than $4.6 million will be injected into the Territory economy with the latest round of Roadhouse to Recovery grants.

17 regional and remote caravan parks, wayside inns and roadhouse operators have today been announced as the recipients of $2 million in grants from the third round of the program.

Many businesses are undertaking major upgrades to their facilities, with operator contributions of more than $2.6 million, all utilising local NT suppliers.

The Roadhouse to Recovery program offered grants of up to $150,000 to undertake infrastructure projects to improve on the ground visitor experiences in the Northern Territory.

As part of the grant program, operators are required to match the contribution.

In the Top End there were 14 successful recipients sharing over $1,575,000 in grants, including the CMCA RV Park at Humpty Doo, Tumbling Waters Holiday Park, Adelaide River Inn and Aurora Kakadu Lodge.

There were three grants awarded in Central Australia, Kings Creek Station, Barkly Homestead and Renner Springs Desert Inn all sharing in over $435,000 in funding.

Quotes from Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Nicole Manison:

"The Roadhouse to Recovery program is a fantastic way to improve the visitor experience, and we are seeing great results from the previous investments undertaken in the first two rounds.

Improving our roadhouses, caravan parks and wayside inns helps grow our tourism drive market and encourages visitors to stay in our remote regions for longer, giving us an amazing reputation as a holiday destination.

This grant program provides a boost to local business owners, creates jobs through infrastructure upgrades and ensures ongoing and high paying employment in all regions across the Territory."

Quotes from Hospitality NT CEO Alex Bruce:

"The Roadhouse 2 Recovery program is very welcomed by roadhouses and wayside inns stretching right across the depth and breadth of the Territory.

The improvements that benefit the travelling public are already visible from the first two rounds of the highly successful program.

2022 has had a strong drive season, it is just starting to ease off and the time is right to make these upgrades ahead of what is predicted to be another cracker season next year."
