Satellite info use optimized for humanitarian aid

In February 2023, the International Institute of Air and Space Law and the Kalshoven-Gieskes Forum for International Humanitarian Law organized a seminar on the topic of "The optimization of the use of satellite information in the humanitarian domain - Legal and space-related developments" at the Law School of Leiden University.

The seminar focused on the use of information obtained by satellites as evidence in the context of humanitarian conflicts. It addressed technical perspectives related to the collection and validation of satellite information, legal and policy aspects concerning the use and dissemination of satellite information, and institutional constraints in the nexus between satellite data and international criminal law. The invited speakers represented academia, space industry, and international organisations.
