SBI Landfill Odour update: Casey

Council is continuing to liaise closely with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and the site's operator, SBI, about odour being emitted from the SBI inert landfill in Ballarto Road, Cranbourne, to ensure regulatory compliance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

Under the Environment Protection Act 2017, the EPA is the lead authority for the enforcement of the site's operating licence, including addressing any odour related issues.

Council is assessing SBI's management plans and, once approved, the implementation of the management plans will be monitored by Council.

We are also working with SBI to identify and address outstanding matters that form part of the site's planning permit, which regulates how the land can be used.
