School Holiday Guide For Kids And Families

Darwin City Council

The school holidays are almost here, and City of Darwin has a whole lineup of free, fun and exciting activities for children, youth and families to enjoy.

From indoor adventures such as Gaming After Dark XR VR, Baby Book Time, Lego Club, and movies to outdoor thrills including archery and rugby skills or get the kids to try something new and learn to beat box or understand why recycling matters.

Families and children can connect with the NT Fire & Rescue and the Deaf Connect Team, or enjoy tailored sessions like Auslan Family Story Time, ensuring there's something fun and accessible for all abilities and interests.

City of Darwin acting CEO, Natalie Williamson, encourages families to get involved and explore something new these school holidays.

"Every year we aim to offer fresh and exciting events for children and their families to enjoy together across the city," Ms Williamson said.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to try new activities, make memories and have a whole lot of fun," she said.

In anticipation for October's Children's Week Art Exhibition, City of Darwin is calling all young artists to showcase their artistic abilities and creative pursuits for this year's theme: "Everyone should know about Children's Rights!"

Budding artists can use their school holidays to create a masterpiece - all artwork from individuals or groups are welcome from drawing, painting, printing, collage, sculpture, ceramic, photography and digital art.
