The Finocchiaro CLP Government is backing 71 organisations with more than $928,000, delivering hundreds of free and low-cost school holiday activities for young Territorians.
Activities are reaching communities right across the Territory, from Alice Springs to Tennant Creek to Darwin, with more added to the online calendar every day.
The investment continues the government's commitment to restoring the Territory lifestyle, keeping young Territorians active, connected and engaged these holidays.
Young Territorians will have endless opportunities to stay active, connected and engaged these school holidays, with hundreds of free and low-cost activities already available across the Northern Territory and more being added every day.
The program is helping keep Territory kids active and engaged with Territory life, with activities on offer including gymnastics and ball games in Pine Creek, wrestling and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu in Alice Springs, bike maintenance workshops at Newland Skate Park, free ice skating in Darwin, fishing, arts and crafts and much more.
School holiday programs are delivered through the Youth Vibe Holiday Grants and Regional Youth Activities Grants, which fund organisations to deliver safe, inclusive and engaging youth activities that support wellbeing, participation and connection, in line with the Northern Territory Youth Strategy.
Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality Jinson Charls said the Finocchiaro CLP Government was proud to support school holiday programs packed full of fun, giving young Territorians positive ways to spend their time.
"School holidays are an important opportunity for young people to have fun, try something new, build friendships and stay connected to their communities," Minister Charls said.
"We're supporting activities right across the Territory, from Darwin and Palmerston to Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Nhulunbuy, Katherine and many of our remote communities. Giving young Territorians something positive to do these holidays is part of our plan to rebuild the economy and restore the Territory lifestyle."
"There are already hundreds of free and low-cost activities on offer, with many more still to be added, so I encourage young people and families to keep checking the online calendar and make the most of what's available in their area."
Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment and Member for Braitling Joshua Burgoyne said it was great to see so many activities throughout town for Central Australian kids.
"These activities are a great way to keep kids engaged during their holidays - from sport and fitness to bikes and more, we are helping put more opportunities on the ground for local kids and families to get involved," Minister Burgoyne said.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Community Development and Member for Barkly Steve Edgington said the CLP Government was delivering more opportunities for young people in Tennant Creek and across the Territory.
"We are backing local organisations to support our young Territorians to get active, have a go at something new, and make the most of the school holidays," Minister Edgington said.
