The Words Out West Festival is taking 'Schooners & Stories' on the road to Jandowae, Miles and Tara in June with tour with former NRL star turned radio personality Ben Hannant.
The Western Downs community is set for an even bigger storytelling experience in 2026, with the much-loved 'Schooners & Stories' event pouring into a three-town tour and welcoming a new high-profile guest Ben "Polar Bear" Hannant.
Building on the sell-out popularity of last year's event, the refreshed format will bring fun, stories, and pub-side atmosphere to Jandowae, Tara, and Miles.
This year's featured guest, Ben Hannant, is known for his decorated NRL career, radio work, and trademark humour and authenticity. As host to the Schooner's & Stories evenings, he will share stories from on and off the field, giving audiences a candid and entertaining look into the life of elite sport and sport media.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said the additional evenings reflect the festival's commitment to keeping events inclusive and accessible for anyone interested in visiting the region.
"'Schooners & Stories' has always been about connecting over great conversations and celebrating the power of storytelling. After last year's strong turnout, we wanted to give more local towns the chance to be part of the Words Out West experience," Mayor Smith said.
"As one of the main events in the wider Words Out West Festival, 'Schooners & Stories' offers a unique opportunity for creative minds and sporting fanatics alike to connect through memorable stories and lively conversation."
"Schooners & Stories brings fresh energy to the Western Downs and draws locals and visitors alike who appreciate the unique mix of sport and storytelling that our region does so well." he said
Tickets are priced at $20, which includes admission to venue for the exclusive presentation.
Food and drinks are not included, but attendees are invited to order meals from the menu.
Schooners & Stories is supported through the jointly funded Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
