On December 8, 2025, Space: Science & Technology was officially indexed in the Web of Science: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE). All articles published since 2021 will be progressively included into the SCIE database.

Journal Introduction
Space: Science & Technology is a high-level, comprehensive international English-language scientific journal co-founded by Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)|Science. It is also the first partner journal from AAAS focusing on aerospace research since the founding of Science.
The Editor-in-Chief is Prof. YE Peijian, recipient of the national honorary title "People's Scientist," member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Executive Editor-in-Chief is Prof. DENG Yulin, Chair of the Life Sciences Division at the International Academy of Astronautics and professor from BIT.
The journal aims to spotlight the latest directions and trends in global aerospace development, present new theories, new applications, and new findings emerging from cutting-edge research and exploration, and promote rapid interdisciplinary integration and technological breakthroughs in the aerospace field. It seeks to provide researchers and engineering professionals with a rigorous academic exchange and information dissemination platform.
Since publishing its inaugural editorial in February 2021, the journal has been included in the China's Science and Technology Journals Excellence Action Phase II English Echelon Journal Project, the 2024 Key English Science and Technology Journals Support Project under the Beijing Excellence in Science and Technology Journals Initiative, and the 2025 Project for Supporting the Construction of High-level International Science and Technology Journals of Beijing (Journal Enhancement).
It has been indexed in SCIE (Impact Factor 6.8, announced June 2025), Ei Compendex, Scopus, INSPEC, DOAJ, CNKI, SAO/NASA-ADS, CSCD, and listed among the China Scientific and Technical Core Journals. According to the CAS, Space: Science & Technology is classified as a TOP journal in the broad field of Physics and Astrophysics (Q1), and also placed in Q1 for both Astronomy & Astrophysics, Engineering: Aerospace.
