Logan City Council will engage specialist expertise to investigate the assumptions, methodology and application of creek flood mapping including how creek flooding is distinguished from overland flow for planning purposes.
The investigation is part of Council's response to community feedback and improvements to flood mapping across the city.
In June, a Special Council meeting resolved to investigate dry creeks as part of broader flood mapping considerations in the draft Logan Plan. The scope of the investigation was endorsed at Council's Ordinary Meeting on 19 August.
The findings of the investigation will be presented to Council for consideration before any decisions are made. Any future amendments to creek flood mapping would consider flood risk management for people and property.
