Search resumes for missing swimmer - Wagga Beach

A search has resumed for a swimmer who reportedly did not resurface while in the Murrumbidgee River yesterday.

About 8.30pm (Tuesday 27 December 2022), emergency services responded to reports of a male person who was allegedly seen to submerge under the water and not resurface at Wagga Beach on Johnston Street, Wagga Wagga.

Officers from Riverina Police District commenced a search of the water and surrounding area, with assistance from the Volunteer Rescue Association, NSW SES and NSW Ambulance, including the helicopter and swift water rescue.

The search is continuing this morning (Wednesday 28 December 2022), and there have been no reports of a missing person to local police.
