Raptor Squad officers have charged a second man in relation to a public place shooting in Sydney's west earlier this year.
About 1.40am on Wednesday 26 October 2022, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were called to a home on Bristol Street, Merrylands West, following reports of shots fired.
On arrival, police located a number of bullet holes in the front of the home.
Two occupants were inside the home at the time; however, no one was injured.
A crime scene was established and forensically examined.
Local police conducted initial inquiries, before the matter was referred to the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad under Strike Force Helio.
A 30-year-old man was arrested in December 2022 in relation to this incident; he remains before the courts.
Following further extensive inquiries, strike force detectives attended Lithgow Police Station about 10.15am yesterday (Wednesday 15 February 2023), where they arrested a 24-year-old man.
He was charged with 15 offences, including:
- Fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety;
- Possess unregistered firearm-pistol;
- Possess unauthorised pistol;
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority;
- Not keep firearm safely-pistol;
- Use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order;
- Acquire firearm subject to prohibition order (x2);
- Acquire ammunition subject to prohibition order;
- In company robbery while armed with dangerous weapon;
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (x2);
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period;
- Not comply with direction to stop/move etc light vehicle; and
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
He was refused bail to appear at Lithgow Local Court today (Thursday 16 February 2023).
Investigations under Strike Force Helio are ongoing.
