The Canadian Coast Guard has added another modern, Canadian-built search and rescue lifeboat to its fleet, strengthening its ability to respond quickly to mariners in distress and keep Canadians safe on the water.
Today, Mike Kelloway, Member of Parliament for Sydney - Glace Bay and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport was in Sydney, Nova Scotia to dedicate the Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) Mira Bay into service. The dedication of the CCGS Mira Bay marks another important milestone in the construction and delivery of a total of 20 new Bay Class Search and Rescue Lifeboats for the Canadian Coast Guard.
The CCGS Mira Bay is a high-endurance Search and Rescue Lifeboat built by Hike Metal Products Ltd. in Wheatley, Ontario. This vessel was delivered and accepted in November 2025 to the Canadian Coast Guard.
Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy, all 20 Bay Class Search and Rescue Lifeboats have now been delivered to the Canadian Coast Guard, providing crews with modern, Canadian-built vessels while supporting skilled jobs and Canada's shipbuilding and marine industries.
