Second person dies after fatal crash in Wangaratta

A second person has died following a single vehicle collision in Wangaratta earlier this month.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Greta Road and Clarkes Lane following reports a car had rolled, coming to rest in a paddock, about 7.15pm on 9 April.

One of the three male passengers, a 26-year-old Beaconsfield man, died at the scene.

A 24-year-old Beaconsfield man was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 16-year-old Wangaratta boy was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition but has sadly died in hospital this afternoon.

The male driver of the car, a 23-year-old Wangaratta man, has been charged with culpable driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and negligent driving causing serious injury and he was also issued with a notice of immediate driving ban.

He has been bailed to appear in Wangaratta Magistrates' Court on 7 September.
