The IDPwD Yarning Guide is now available to help First Nations communities talk about disability all year round.
The guide shares real stories and asks yarning questions to:
- challenge stereotypes and negative attitudes
- recognise the diversity and experiences of First Nations people with disability
- provide information in a culturally safe way
- build a more inclusive and supportive community.
IDPwD is a United Nations day held around the world on 3 December each year. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
An editable slideshow presentation is also available for local community, workplaces and schools to run a yarning session about disability.
These resources were co-designed with First Nations community members. They include original artwork by Aneika Kapeen, a Yaegl and Bundjalung artist.
