Street X Street To Illuminate Wagga Wagga's CBD

Wagga Wagga's CBD will be illuminated in blue to promote the inaugural Street x Street event week.

Led by the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber and a local business collective, the new event activation will run from 1 to 7 November 2026, connecting businesses, venues and public spaces from the Victory Memorial Gardens to the Fitzmaurice Street precinct.

Through extended trading hours, special offers, live entertainment, food experiences and programmed activities, Street x Street aims to encourage residents and visitors to explore the city centre after 5pm, supporting local businesses and activating the CBD after dark. On Saturday 7 November, Fitzmaurice Street will close to traffic for the evening.

To celebrate the event, the 19 trees along Fitzmaurice Street, the Historic Council Chambers and the Civic Centre Coat of Arms will be illuminated in blue throughout the event week.

Manager Community Services Madeleine Scully said the temporary lighting display helps promote this great initiative that showcases the city's vibrant CBD.

''Council is proud to support initiatives that create opportunities for residents and visitors to connect, support local businesses and activate our public spaces, contributing to a vibrant city centre,'' Ms Scully said.

Street x Street is funded by the NSW Government under the Regional Night-Time Economy Program and supported by Wagga Wagga City Council's Major Events, Festivals and Films Sponsorship Fund. Street x Street will also launch a second event activation series in Baylis Street in March 2027.

Community organisations can book the free temporary lighting of the Fitzmaurice Street trees or Civic Centre Coat of Arms in their campaign colours to promote health and community campaigns. Book here: Temporary Lighting for Awareness Campaigns | Wagga Wagga City Council
