Secretary Blinken's Call with Brazilian Foreign Minister França 26 February

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos França regarding Russia's premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified attack on Ukraine. Secretary Blinken strongly condemned Russia's attack on Ukraine and noted that Russia's destructive actions contravene the UN Charter and have grave implications for broader peace and security. The Secretary stressed that threats to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, a UN Member state, are unacceptable. The Secretary emphasized that Brazil and the United States, as democratic partners and members of the United Nations Security Council, have a responsibility to stand together to ensure peace and security around the world. The Secretary and Foreign Minister reiterated Brazil and the United States' call for the immediate cessation of all hostilities.
