Camden Council is proud to be the Grand Supreme Sponsor of this year's Camden Show, bringing a vibrant and interactive Council display to this year's event.
The Camden Show is running Friday 20 to Saturday 21 March, 8am-11pm, at the Camden Showground. Council's display will offer residents and visitors the opportunity to connect directly with Council staff and learn more about the wide range of services and initiatives available.
A key attraction will be the interactive waste truck and bin lift display, allowing visitors to sit in the driver's seat and operate the side arm to empty a wheelie bin. A mini street sweeper will also be on display, alongside a waste education marquee featuring informative displays, a beanbag toss activity with prizes and promotional materials. Operational waste staff will be onsite throughout the Show.
Sustainability initiatives will also be highlighted, with information about home energy efficiency and a fun giveaway. Council will promote its Nature Connect program and Macarthur Nature competition, with a plant giveaway available on Saturday while stocks last.
Camden Libraries will showcase their services, including demonstrations on how to access eBooks and eMagazines, new member sign-ups, a book share initiative and small maker space activities. Families can enjoy a sensory teepee and children's reading opportunities, with bookmarks available to take home.
In partnership with NSW Police Macarthur Highway Patrol, Council will also be supporting important road safety messaging. The display will include two crashed vehicles to demonstrate the impact of collisions at different speeds and educate the community on speed compliance and driver distraction. Information will also be available on child restraints, pedestrian safety, senior licensing conditions, fatigue and mobile phone use, with Highway Patrol vehicles present across the two days.
Council's Rangers will provide information on responsible pet ownership and the Council Animal Care Facility, with companion animal activities and appearances from mascots Pip and Paws. The draft Camden Resilience Plan will be on public exhibition, with summary documents available for community feedback, alongside promotion of the Camden Emergency Dashboard and an interactive emergency management display.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said there would be something for everyone at Council's display.
"Whether you're interested in services for children, tourism, what's happening at Camden Civic Centre or the upcoming Boots n' Beats Country Music Festival, there will be information on it and someone to talk to about it," she said.
"Council's Customer Experience team will be available to assist with enquiries and provide general support if needed.
"It's so important to connect with Council and know what's happening around you. Educated and informed residents are empowered residents."
