Seminar On Boundaries Of Care Provision And How It Affects Older People, Relatives, And Municipalities

On 29 September 2025, Isabelle von Saenger, postdoctoral researcher at the Aging Research Center (ARC) at Karolinska Institutet, had the opportunity to share key insights from her thesis examining the evolution of care provision for older people in Sweden over the past three decades. The event, coordinated by Omsorgsforum, brought together an influential group of stakeholders committed to shaping the future of elderly care.

Isabelle von Saenger 's presentation sparked a lively panel discussion, featuring leaders from civil society, professional practice, and the political arena. Among the panellists were Maria Larsson, President of SPF Seniorerna; Liselotte Björk, founder of Seniorglädje and former Chair of the Swedish Dementia Association; Tobias Smedberg, Chair of the Committee on Primary Care and Elderly Care at SKR; Nike Örbrink, Member of the same committee; and Anna Tenje, Minister for Older People and Social Security.

One particularly meaningful moment was when Isabelle von Saenger handed over her doctoral thesis to Minister for Older People and Social Security Anna Tenje, highlighting the importance of research-driven policy development.
