Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a teenage boy as part of an ongoing investigation into the serious assault of a security guard at Coomera yesterday, 22 September.
At approximately 6.40pm, a 66-year-old security guard approached a group of young people at a shopping centre on Foxwell Road.
It will be alleged two young males then assaulted the man.
During the assault, the security guard fell to the ground and sustained a head injury.
He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
Following investigations, police have charged a 15-year-old Eagleby boy with one count of serious assault person over 60.
He is due to appear at Southport Childrens Court today, 23 September.
Investigations remain ongoing to identify and locate a second young male allegedly involved in the assault.
Police continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has relevant CCTV, mobile phone or other vision, to come forward.
