Serious Traffic Crash at Alligator Creek, Police Responding

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a serious two-vehicle traffic crash at Alligator Creek near Mackay this morning, August 18.

Initial investigations indicate just after 7am, a grey 2022 Hyundai Palisade was turning onto the Bruce Highway from Perry Road when it collided with an oncoming four-wheel drive which was travelling north.

The four-wheel drive, a silver 1997 Toyota Landcruiser, swerved before losing control and rolling multiple times down an embankment.

The driver, a 19-year-old Sarina man, and his passenger, a 45-year-old Sarina man, were taken to Mackay Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger, a 29-year-old Sarina man, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Mackay Base Hospital before being transported to Townsville Hospital.

The Hyundai driver and only occupant of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Sarina woman, was not physically injured.

Witnesses or anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
