The CommBank Socceroos have named seven uncapped players in the 26-player squad for the upcoming matches against Brazil in Brisbane and Townsville, which will be the team's only Australia-based matches prior to the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
They join 16 players who were part of the Socceroos' FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, six of whom (Patrick Beach, Paul Okon-Engstler, Jackson Irvine, Lucas Herrington, Nestory Irankunda and Alessandro Circati) have transferred to new clubs since the World Cup campaign.
Eli Adams (Gamba Osaka), Kealey Adamson (QPR), Jacob Chapman (St Mirren), Yaya Dukuly (NK Celje) and Marcus Younis (Brondby IF) have been called into their maiden Socceroos camps.
Uncapped players Kasey Bos (Excelsior Rotterdam) and Dylan Leonard (Alemannia Aachen) have been called up, having been selected in previous camps under CommBank Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic.
Midfielders Riley McGree (Middlesbrough) and Patrick Yazbek (Nashville SC) have been recalled after missing the FIFA World Cup 2026 through injury. Cardiff City's Alexander Robertson also returns to the squad.
The remaining 16 players all featured in the recent FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, where the Socceroos made the knockout phase for the third time ever.
Quotes attributable to CommBank Socceroos Head Coach Tony Popovic:
"We are looking forward to coming together for the first time since the FIFA World Cup 2026. We have picked a squad with an eye on the AFC Asian Cup 2027 and an eye on the future, and it's a great opportunity for us to continue growing as a team.
"We are also very excited to be playing at home for the first time since March in what are two crucial matches for us, against Brazil, the most successful team in FIFA World Cup history.
"We will only have two camps and four matches before we select our AFC Asian Cup 2027 squad, so these matches are critical for us in preparation for our next major tournament."
Quotes attributable to Football Australia CEO Martin Kugeler:
"We are excited to have the CommBank Socceroos back on home soil for both matches against Brazil, in Townsville and Brisbane.
"It is clear that excitement around the CommBank Socceroos is very high and the Queensland and Australian public is looking forward to acknowledging the Socceroos' strong FIFA World Cup performances and backing the team as they prepare for the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
"There are only a handful of tickets remaining, so we encourage Socceroos fans to purchase tickets before it sells out."
Quotes attributable to the Queensland Minister for Tourism, the Hon. Andrew Powell:
"Now we know who will be pulling on the green and gold, the excitement is really building for what will be an incredible showdown against five-time world champions Brazil.
"Queenslanders will get to see the Socceroos take on Brazil right here at home because the Crisafulli Government went out and secured it - delivering a world-class sporting spectacle from Townsville to Brisbane and another major step towards making Queensland Australia's events capital."
