Shared E‑bike Program Launched Across Ryde

Two Lime branded ebikes

Lime has introduced a managed shared e‑bike service across Macquarie Park, Ryde, Gladesville and Meadowbank. The rollout of Lime bikes is intended to deliver a safer, more sustainable and better-connected transport network.

This service is managed by an external provider and supports Council's broader transport planning response to population growth and increasing pressure on roads, parking and public transport. It aligns with the Integrated Transport Strategy and Community Strategic Plan, supporting flexible, low‑impact travel that improves access to jobs, services and recreation.

More than 130,000 residents can benefit from the service, particularly for short trips. By reducing reliance on private cars for local journeys, the initiative aims to ease congestion and support Council's Net Zero Emissions Pathway.

The service operates within a managed framework to address community concerns, with mandatory parking zones, geofenced service areas and no‑ride zones to improve safety and minimise clutter. Settings can be adjusted in real time using data and community feedback, supported by regular on‑ground patrols.

Each e‑bike includes GPS tracking, integrated helmets and insurance coverage, providing consistent safety standards not typically available with private devices.

Residents can access the service via the Lime App with usage, pricing and safety information.

Report any damaged or misplaced LimeBike via the Reporting and Complaints – Help Centre page.
