Season 2 of the popular Australian documentary that raises some of Western Australia's long-lost shipwreck secrets will premiere on August 27 following the official trailer release by Disney+ today.
Shipwreck Hunters Australia Season 2 is funded through the Cook Government's Western Australian Regional Screen Fund (WARSF), which is supported by $4 million per annum through Royalties for Regions funding from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
A team of fearless ocean adventurers deep dive into WA's Gascoyne, Goldfields-Esperance, Mid West and Wheatbelt regions to uncover new stories of incredible survivals and devastating tragedies along the State's ruggedly beautiful 'Treasure Coast'.
Shipwreck Hunters AustraliaSeason 2 is a co-production between VAM Media, Terra Australis Productions and Barking Mad Productions for Disney+.
Financed through the Western Australian Regional Screen Fund, with support from Screenwest, Lotterywest, and Tourism Western Australia, Shipwreck Hunters AustraliaSeason 2 also received major production investment from Screen Australia.
As stated by Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk:
"The WA Regional Screen Fund aims to encourage regional film industry activity, build capacity and contribute to the liveability and vibrancy of regional WA communities.
"We are sending a strong message to the international film industry, that WA is rapidly growing as a popular destination for film production and that we have remarkable and appealing stories to tell.
"Last year the WA Regional Screen Fund supported film productions injected $29.24 million into the Western Australian economy, including $8.96 million in the regions."
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
"The Cook Government is committed to enhancing the social fabric of our regional communities.
"The Royalties for Regions funding support to WARSF means that through this series, WA's Mid West region and its fabulous shipwreck tales are set to be showcased to the world.
"These productions supported an estimated 383 regional jobs, and over 10,000 overnight stays in the regions."
